They do hold into locks amazingly well for two bent wires.
they are not a tool that is immediately useful and is something I would suggest onyl getting once you have a nice little toolbox going already... The reason I say that, is because they have the effect of making the keyway feel deeper and so harder to pick - Almost trying to pick a safe lock, you feel you are picking down a well sort of thing.
The other thing is that I tend to rest the back of my pick against the bottom of the keyway, or tension wrench, so I can have more precise control of the pick. I find I cannot do that reliably with a circular tension tool. Perhaps it takes more practise, but certainly I've found that while they do solve more problems than they cause, it has limited the usefulness of the tool for me. There has just been the odd occasion where it was invaluable.
