Hi everyone!

I am a lockpick afficionado since the age of 10. My dad made me my first pick (Dietrich) to open a single lever lock. I grew up in good cold Germany to a Czech father and Italian mother. To make a long story short: I got interested in Lockpicking when I watched those spy and detective movies and can still recall the scene from 'Arsene Lupin' where Arsene, the master thief, opened a lock with the legendary Sputnik. An awesome tool btw. 're-discovered' by my friends at Multipick Service, Germany.

My main interest is mainly the traditional picking (as well as bumping, bypassing) of regular and high security pin tumblers. I just devoured (drool :) Marc Tobias book 'Open In Thirty Seconds'. I absolutely love it and highly recommend it for the advanced picker.

My main tools consist of an HPC Euro (narrow) Cylinder Pick set, auto jigglers, disc detainer pick, 30 bump keys including european dimples, the controversial fiber picks and a Southord pen plug spinner.

So here I am and hope to engage in interesting discussions with all of you.

Summer vacation is almost near, so while thinking of a new hobby to pursue, i suddenly had the urge to learn the arts of lock picking!

I'm deeply curious at how locks work since accidents like losing the keys or leaving the keys inside of a locked room usually happens, at least to me ;)

Nice to meet you all, and looking forward to master this interesting art by the end of summer vacation.

I'm always up for something novel I saw I could get a good set of 14 picks from southord and that's what got me started. Before I even touched the picks I read the MIT guide and tried to watch some videos. I have better idea now but this is quite a fun challenge.

I have many locks to practice with today I was somehow able to pick a 5 pin titan cylinder lock... Same lock on my front door. I intend to learn all I can here. I can see the guides here will be a big help.

Hi everybody,

I picked my first lock today, a master padlock using the set of picks I got for my birthday. I am a college student in Massachusetts but I am originally from Denver Colorado.

It was about the coolest thing ever when that stupid cylinder finally rotated all the way, I couldn't stop smiling for the next hour!

Anyway, I just discovered this site and think it is pretty cool that there are so many other people as interested in this zany little hobby as I am (I thought I was all alone =)

I look forward to meeting members and learning more about locks and the art of picking them.

I'm antz_539 from Adelaide in Australia.
I've been a Locksmith for the last 10 years and love the profession. There are always new challenges out there everyday.
Locksport has just starting to be recognised over in Australia and LP101 looks like a great place to share experiences and knowledge for all the lockpickers out there.

Just throwing this out there, is there anyone in the mid atlantic area (usa) preferably MD that would be willing to provide a little hands on instruction? I have been reading and practicing but really struggling to grasp my new little hobby! I'll by the beer! (or soda or what ever)
