Hey all, been browsing the forums and reading for a week or so now figured it's time to introduce myself. Names Josh, or I go by Xero (zero) either or. I live up in Connecticut just outside of Danbury. I bought my first pick set about 3 years ago, unfortunatly due to life I was never able to find or make practice time. Now I'm single and working a steady job I finaly have time to devote, ordered the " YouTube" starter kit from lockpickersmall.com and a easy re-key practice lock. Hopefully my new tools will be here in a few days. Thier in transit from AZ. I can't say how happy I am to have found this cominity with such a wealth of informantion and the quality of the information/guides on this site. Hopefully I'll be able to earn the respect of the long time members here and one day will myself be a seasoned hand and can really be able to give back to a comunity that offers so much. Can't wait to get picking.

Well, first things first: I got into lockpicking when I discovered a length of spring steel that was up for grabs, and had five bucks to spare for a metal file. I made a basic half-diamond pick and a torque wrench, then picked up the first abandoned lock that I found.
I taught myself what skills I have from the MIT Guide, and was recently gifted a set of picks by an Army friend.
The s.o.b. also gave me an American 5200.
I've always been a bit of a crypto geek, and one of my favorite classes in school was drafting; this seems to be a natural extension of the two.
Also: My computer hates me, but that is superfluous to this whole introduction. However, don't trust a word it says; it never gave me a chance.
Well, nice to meet all of you in advance.

Hello everyone, though I doubt may people read these anyways. =)
Just picked my first lock yesterday. Accidentally locked my boss's file cabinet and he didn't have the key. Told him I would get it open, got lucky and fulfilled the promise using a bobby pin and a pen cap. It was a very interesting experience and I enjoyed the challenge. Bought a padlock today so that I can practice.
Looking forward to learning more!

Hello all, I'm new on this great forum :)
I started picking when, in early 80's (I was 15), a french science vulgarization magazine ("Science et Vie") wrote an article about how do to do a torsion wrench and a half diamond pick with a wiper blade insert. I just followed the instructions and : WAW ! I did my first pick, torsion wrench and started picking all the house locks with success !!!
So I am back today (I am 40+) into this hobby... I just finished a set of tools using saw blades and wiper blades inserts (hooks, diamonds, bogotas, etc...) I am also starting to collect all different type of locks I am finding here (mainly Euro locks and european/chinese Paddlocks).
I have succesfully picked some of them and some not yet. I still have troubles with TESA T60... but I'll beat it with patience !
Well... I'll post someday my new set of picks I am working on to get your feedback... See you,

Hello from Finland. The whole thing started this spring when my son complained his key was stiff to turn. After examining the key I found it had a wrong cut (4 instead of 5). This made me to dismantle and clean & oil the 36 year old Abloy Classics. Everything went fine, until my wife tried to open the door 5 am next morning when she was coming from night shift. Luckily the doorbell worked... (Her key was badly worn and bent). When everything was working again, I started to search more information about Abloy and hit Jaakko's blog. Nothing more was needed. I bought a set of lock picks and started training with pin tumber locks.
(The whole door lock thing ended up with renewing all doors and they came with Abloy Execs but that is another story.)

I am new and still learning off my first set of picklocks. I am looking forward to learning from all of you, but first, I have to go through most of the threads to get up to speed. Don't mind me if I will be lurking for a while.

Hi LP101!
I've been interested in lockpicking for a long time, but I never actually tried it. After reading as much information as I could, I decided to join and try my hand at making this a regular hobby. ;)
I look forward to learning more!

Hello LP101.
I have been lurking for a few years, posted a few years back (I've forgotten the handle I used back then). Made myself a few picks back in the day, opened a few Yale Locks and lost interest. Got back into the hobby last year or so after picking up myself a little 28 piece South Ord set, bought myself a couple of el cheapo Padlocks and havent looked back.
I've been playing with Padlocks a while now and plan to move on to cylinder and sash locks. I was also learning a little locksmithing during my time at my previous job as a security engineer installing CCTV, Alarms and Fire Protection systems.
Thanks for having me and I look forward to learning and eventually possibly giving something back.

Hey guys,
I'm developing my skills at the moment after having recently got my first set. It's a relaxing hobby strangely! I'm here to learn new skills for work and develop my ability.
Thanks for having me!
IC.
