I'm new to this though I always wanted to do some lock picking...waiting for a set to arrive from DX (cheap stuff to begin with), takes a while for it to get to Israel ;)

Hello everyone.

I've been browsing the forum for several for several weeks and have decided to join so I can post my experiences and ask questions.

I'm a veteran of both the US Navy and Army, and have been working as an armorer, security trainer, and locksmith of sorts for several years. My interest in locks and how to defeat them began in 2005 when a friend of mine introduced me to locksport. Since then then I've never lost interest, and am now pursuing more formal training in locksmithing as a trade, as well as expanding my knowledge of locks, and trying to hone my skill.

Nice to have a forum and community of enthusiasts and skilled professionals to interact with.

Hello, all!

My name is Will. I'm from Columbus, Ohio, USA, and I've been lock picking for a month, but I had a break-through yesterday.
Until yesterday, I'd only been able to open a simple luggage lock, even though I'd been fiddling with this little brass padlock non-stop. I could get 3/4 pins easily, but could never get the 4th without them all falling back down. Turns out, The pin that was actually binding was behind the pin I thought was binding, but since the pin I thought was binding set so low, it felt like it hadn't moved yet. Also, it set so low that I couldn't get the diamond pick (that I had been exclusively using) past it.

I have discovered the hook pick and I bought 3 locks today. I've picked them each probably 50 times.
I am addicted the feeling of getting past something that was specifically designed to stop me.

I'm looking forward to learning from this forum!

bold... can we get a list of what alost any padlock is... cause eery padlock is just like every door... medeco makes padlocks... so does abloy... but does this say you cannot pick a kwikset?
