Hey all, I'm a total gadget/gear nerd, and have been interested in lockpicking for many years.

I've decided its time to actually focus on it as a hobby, not just as a "piece of gear," so I look forward to learning a lot here, and contributing what I can.

Hey... First post... Ive had a set of picks for about 10 years and recently started using them... the girl from next door locked herself out so I dusted off my pick set, snuck outside and picked her deadbolt on the first try. Cheap lock and a lot of major luck but, of course, now I am hooked... and I am now the coolest guy in the complex. I spent a lot of time in Lowe's, taking locks off of the shelf into the bathroom to practice and am getting better. Now I have a bucket of locks and am in heaven.

Looking forward to taking and giving what I can to and from this board.

Greetings, all.

I just joined the forum a few minutes ago, but I've been lurking here for a few weeks. I'm not really sure how it happened or why, but I seem to have become somewhat fascinated with the idea of opening locks without keys. I'd ask if that was weird, but I think I might be preaching to the choir here... ;-)

Anyway, glad to find the 'introduce yourself' thread, and glad to make your acquaintance. I hope to learn enough to eventually be able to add to someone else's understanding at some far distant point in the future, and to learn enough to ask an intelligent question or two at some point in the hopefully much less remote future... lol.

Right now, I don't even know what I don't know, but I'm looking forward to the journey!

Cheers!

Hi All

New to all this and do have a few questions?

I am a SWAT Breacher and I am looking to add some locking picking to my skill set as I am the one responsible for getting my team inside to the fight. I have rams, hydraulics, shotgun etc for getting through a door but would like to be able to make a more silent entry from time to time (high risk) I am doing my reading MIT lock pick but am curious as to what tools i should purchase for what i plan to do. any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance

Hi there. My name's Jack and I recently retired from my career in the military in order to spend more time with my family and live a more relaxed life. Unfortunately, due to the nature of my past profession, I am not at liberty to disclose much information of my military experience, but I have worked alongside or within NATO, the Special Boats Service, the regular army and and for a short time, the Special Air Service. My main area of specialisation relates to mechanical and electronic safes - namely fast, silent entry. I now work as a consultant for two private security agencies. I'm happy to answer any questions as best I can without disclosing too many personal details.

Thanks,

Jack

I have worked with SWAT teams in the past and as far as I'm aware, you cannot specialise in one specific job, but rather every team member must go through the same training to be able to take on the task of any of the other officers, in the case that they are incapicitated or dropped. I could be wrong but that was the system less than two years ago for the teams that I worked with.

Thats true we all cross train to do everything but I am the primary Breacher for our team. We have a primary Less / Lethal operator and a primary Negiator. We even have a primary designated marksman. While we all train to do these jobs it is assigned to one person so that somebody stays curent with the information and equipment, skills etc. other teams may do it differently but thats how ours does it. It howevers does not mean that we dont train in other tactics (Entry) etc.
