Evening ladies and gents.
I recently had to break into my car, and repair the lock. I was fascinated how simple the theory of how locks work, so looked into it further. I now have a small set of picks and bought a few cheap cylinders to play with.
I'm intrigued what i can learn from looking through this forum. The lock pick vids on youtube appear too good to be true, and from what i gather practice lokcs can get worn quickly when constantly picked or snap-gunned open.

So here I am, ready to learn from some experts....

Hey, Been lurking for awhile now, but started to get the feeling i should register.
Brisbane, Australia based here :)
Made afew picks nothing special as yet, need to work on afew more, and eventually handles..
Picked 2or 3 locks. nothing special old house lock, a small "master" padlock. and a new practice lock which allows for easy pin removal via a hex screw on top of each pin :D (With no chance of them flying out.)
So far, racked and Spp'd 4 out of 5 of them.

My mom started a locksmith business when I was 8. I helped her all the time when I was growing up. She is in her 21 year of business and now my husband is studying for his CRL. We are going to take over the business when she retires.

hey everybody!!
I'm totally new to this forum and to lockpicking too :) however I'm considering locksmithing for a career and currently I'm taking a basic locksmithing course in a locksmithing academy. I searched the net for any usefull sites for general info about locksmithing but I havnt found anything usefull except for this forum. Does anyone here lives in toronto or canada? I need to know how much demand there is on this trade here, and also if there is any tips I can take into my account about it at this stage!!!

Hi everyone,
I have the need to learn the lock picking trade. I work for a company that does marine interior work, many cabinets, doors, and other things with every kind of lock imaginable. We often have lost/misplaced keys. Our official policy is drill and replace, but some locks are hard to come by depending on the item. And, there is always the possibility of damaging a high dollar piece of custom furniture. I can rake (self made... poorly) a lock fairly well from time to time, but I have no technique whatsoever. I'm hoping to learn more about how different types of locks work, and if possible re-key them if applicable. I would love to pick up a little technique as time goes on. I love doing puzzles and fine tedious work, so it may turn out to be a good hobby for me.

Thanks for having a great forum with so much valuable information.
