wire picks v decode sets

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

wire picks v decode sets

Postby steveny » 30 Mar 2006 16:45

i just want to share with anyone out there with a similar interest to myself in non destructive entry techniques on mortice locks, and the best ways i have so far come across to open them without the need to drill.

i have done warrants for 11 years, and it appears now that the companies concerned are keen for all sub contractors to open locks, especially on metal Sitex or Orbis doors on council properties, without drilling. At first i looked around and tried to guess which would be the best ones for me to
use with minimal skill and without breaking the bank.

As with anything, it is all down to individual preferences and abilitites, but i have found that the new securefast decode set is great for these types of doors, as you need a key to retract the bolt, thus rendering a standard wire pick ineffective. This can open the door within a few minutes, although the one downside is that due to the nature of these doors, they are rarely opened and occasionally vandalised, so there is no always sufficient tension available on the bolt to retract it once you have made your key up. I am definitely not saying this is a fault with the reader set, as it is a very valuable tool in my van, but i wonder if anyone out there has devised a way of applying more opening pressure without bending the reader pins?

 As for the other tpes of bs mortice locks, after an extremely enjoyable and tremendous value course with Mark Francis, i find that his triple pick opens every other common bs mortice lock i come across, and at a fraction of the cost of individual picks or decode systems. I also found the 45 minute DVD that it comes with to be very informative and weel put together, attempting to simplify a difficult technique with great success, and also has some great little hints on making picking cdertain locks a lot easier.

Although i realise the difficulty in trying to explain in laymans terms how to pick locks, i would like to see more picks come with such detailed visual instructions and helpful hints.

sitex is every warrant locksmiths dilema, but in most cases one that can be overcome.

many do have securefast, which with the decoder is an instant decode and opening in most cases.
many sitex doors still have willenhall locks on, which overlift quickly and efficiently in seconds.

though many sitex doors now use a mul t lock system, much harder to defeat, though the digi pad and vps systems are bypassable with ease on most occasions.

any wire curtain pick such as marks and chris's can defeat almost every bs lock on the door, limited only by the users own skill level and understanding of the lock to open.
