Next month will mark my 6th month as a locksmith apprentice. I have worked part time up until this point(Mon-Wed-Fri, 8-5) and have seriously begun to debate talking to the boss for a possible chance to move into a full time spot or at least request to make a little bit more money.
I've never been a second late, and I've only missed one day (after catching a small cold because I worked outside two straight days with them in the blistering cold digging a trench to lay conduit for a CCTV setup). All the locksmiths I've rode with have had favorable things to say about me to the boss. I can't think of any negative things hindering my chances except my experience level.
My question is: Is this request a little too soon or might I get somewhere with my boss by asking him for "more responsibilities"? In other words, what is my best bet here?
The shop has become active again and we're genuinely full with jobs every day, I figure now is a better time than ever.
Any help from locksmiths would be greatly appreciated.
