Picking lock with paperclips

This actually made me so curious so I tryed out various tension tools made out from paperclicps. The best one I came up with so far was made with tongs. I made it so that first open it totally, then bend from middle so you get it dual layerd, then use the tongs to twist it spirally around it selfe like a rope, after that make the L bend. This made it less flexible!

Im not very good in english but ill give you a pic about it later, really did the trick

The bad about it is that you can make them whitout the tongs so you cant just carry paperclips with you and make them like this in middle of nowhere

My cousin works locked her keys in her locker at work last week.
I tried a paper clip as tension wrench.
Picking was no problem at all... even with a clip.
Usually just a few seconds.
but TURNING was a pain in the @$$ !!
I went through 5 wrenches. Had to double the last one over.

Yes try to use paperclips to what they are used for and lockpicks what they are used for .

Hahaha - I had to open my locker at work today using paperclips... The picks were inside my bag, which was inside the locker.

I made a rocker pick and just gently pulsed the makeshift wrench - Opened in seconds.

To say I was happy that i didn't have to stay longer after work was finished trying to open my locker is an understatement.

Ive been pondering this for a while now, so Im just gonna throw it out there. What if you used "Damascus paper clips", if you will. Could you roll out the clips flat, then fold them over and roll them again? Then possibly temper them with some sort of heat treatment? Or would this just give me a flimsy waste of time?

First of all hello to everyone. I just bought a padlock to practice lockpicking. I started off with paperclips and used instructions found on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIvohfrDRDE . Somehow I can't do it, I tried many times with no success. I press the pins up with my second tool for racking and i put the tension wrench too but I can't apply enough pressure to turn the cylinder with my paperclip tension wrench. Does anyone have any tips or manuals to help me out with this one. Every help is appreciated. Thank you.

even though I'm new and don't have my own lock pick set(IM WORKING ON IT)I'v tried to use paperclips before...It sometimes works(I did mine with a padlock and i didnt use a tension wrench)IF you use a hard paperclip..I was able to do it before with the paperclip shaped like a V...but I can't do it anymore...so I can't tell you how to do use it on a padlock...sorry...BUT like the others said get a lockpick set(it usually already comes with a tension wrench)with a wrench...Goodluck lockpicking

that is freaking hilarious. that is exactly why i am glad my hosipital has only 2 floors!

Raking with a paperclip wouldnt work. The clip is too weak and it would simply bend.

Maybe on SOME pin tumblers but NEARLY ALL disc wafers/tumblers are incredibly easy to pick open with paper clips.

Reminds me a story a guy at my shop told me once of how his wife had locked her keys in her desk. He told her on the phone how to pick it with just paper clips. If a novice with no experience and just directions by phone can do it, anyone can.

My very first pick was made from a bobby pin (the metal thing that girls have in their hair). First I opened up the bobby pin 90 degrees. Then I bent the straight side into a short hook. The tension wrench was the metal pocked clip off of a Uniball pen. With these two items I was able to single pin pick (SPP) Master locks #1,3, 5, a CVS brand lock, and a LYNX (from 711).

I've never had any luck with paper clips, but these two items are really easy to make. (All you need is a Uniball Pen, bobby pins, and pliers)

if i were you i wouldent use paperclips at all! making lockpicks is cheap easy and fun!
