1st time using skills

Ive been picking locks awhile now. Im good at regular padlocks and non security pinned deadbolts. Anyways my mother called and had a few locks at her concession stand that she didnt have the keys to. She told me to crap my bolt cutters and get the locks off. My brother was there and i ask him to look at the bottom of the locks and tell me what they were. Master #3 and a #5. easy enough. I took my pics and away i went. When i got there she ask me were the bolt cutters were. Told her i didnt need them. Took me longer to get the picks out of my pocket than it did to pick the locks. Crazy easy but kinda cool to use my newly learned kill in the real world.

I've done that before......although I didn't ask what lock it was, & when I got there & had to give up, I wished I hadn't bothered....it was quite a large audience as well, which only added to the embarrassment lol
What a load of old BiLocks!!!!

I'm probably 0 for 400 in looking for safes behind wall paintings

I can see why you grabbed your picks, there's no way I would want to crap bolt cutters...Ouch!

That's cool man, coming to the rescue always feels nice, but I've been in Snowy's position a time or two as well. Sad panda for sure. But you never practice harder than the night after you've had a failed attempt in front of a crowd.

I made the mistake of not asking which type of lock it was... Turns out the time I go out to t he rescue, it was an ASSA lock.. If I recall correctly it was 6 pins all security.. and then 4 additional pins on the side..

To give you a better idea.. check out this picture ASSA pic

And then you can understand why I looked foolish lol..

I can now only open that type of lock by fluke raking. Eventually I will figure it out once I pay more attention to it!

Kudos for using your skills for the betterment of another person.

Just do keep in mind that picking a lock that's mounted is really different than picking a lock that you're holding and able to manipulate however you want. I've gone up against some tough locks and even the american 5200s that I can pick with my eyes shut, can and still throw me when I'm picking them attached to something.

ASSA Twin V10, good luck, I don't know anyone who's picked one of those.

I know. that was my biggest problem. Ive been picking by holding and this one was cocked sideways on a wall mounted door. i practically had to stand on my head to get comfortable with it.

Yeah I know what you mean.. Holding it in a comfortable place is much easier than manipulation mounted to a door/etc.. I think it might be a while before I comfortably open an ASSA.. I'll buy one in a few months I think!

There are SO many things I could say but, I'll leave it with this...

(1) It must have REALLY hurt crapping those bolt-cutters.

(2) Did you have your brother looking at the "bottom" to make sure that the bolt cutters weren't coming out legs first? Kind of like making sure a baby comes out head first?
