There was a few differences to the lock but this is not the issue. The lock normally has either the code on the facing or front side of the lock or ,if the lock is stripped, on the shaft connecting the two handles.
The code will give you the cuts. This had none, so I stripped the lock and made the key. Reassembled it and the key turn but the mechanism inside was busted.

Let me just repeat, the key worked fine.
Now the ethical question. Do I charge labour for the work I done, because the key I made worked and there was a problem with the lock itself, or do I just not bother charging the client. Considering it took close to an hour from client walking in till refitting lock.
