Postby ionizer12 » 3 Apr 2010 19:37

Can anyone give me any tips on using the a-5 plug spinner? I understand the concept and all and how to do it, it just seems awkward to hold and i cant get it to work well. Thanks

I've never used that particular plug spinner. I just use a think rubber band when I need a makeshift plug spinner. Just pick the lock in the wrong direction, hold the tension wrench firmly in place, put the rubber band on the end of the wrench and stretch it out in the direction you want the plug to spin. Let it go, and if you're lucky the plug will spin and not send your wrench flying off into space :)

I've used that spinner before and I gotta say, what a cheap piece of crap that tool is. It does work if you get used to it but it's a miracle that there arn't more locksmiths and hobbyists missing one or more fingers from the use of that tool. I don't blame you for having a hard time with that particular plug spinner. Even the shop I worked at didn't like that one either.

But I'll admit that I'm probably critical of that tool cos the first spinner I bought and used was the DINO Gun plug spinner (http://www.lockpicks.com/guntypeplugspi ... dtips.aspx), and I got spoiled cos the DINO spinner is in my opinion the best one out there compared to all the others. In fact I even prefer the KLOM plug spinner (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16415) which is probably just a cheaper copy of the DINO tool over the A-5.

Well if it works for you then that probably means you have more skill than I do.

But I love my DINO spinner, it's like the Mercedes of plug spinners and I doubt I'll ever have to rely on any other spinner on the market for most applications.
