I have an old Yale deadbolt lock for an exterior door that we have lost the keys for. I am hoping to open the lock without having to having to call an expensive locksmith. The lock can be seen at
or pull the door hinge pins, swing the door open using the deadbolt as a hinge, and remove the screws holding the locks strike plate to the door frame. Then at least you can use the door and work on the lock as time allows.

I was thinking more about picking the lock. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks,

do you have a lock pick set? paper clips and bobby pins only work on crap locks and in the movies.
and did you see my suggestion of removing the hinge pins from the door hinges? and what did you try to remove the one way screws with, did you see the tool I linked that is made to remove them?
You'll probably find it easier to use a center punch and a hammer to unwind the screws a little be knocking on the sloped edge of the screwhead. When turned a little to loosen the screws, use vice grips to grip the head and remove.
Often, one way screws are not over tightened and you can use a strong blade screwdriver to undo the heads a little by pushing hard on the screwdriver handle and turning really slowly (embedding the blade into the slopes).

Most one-way screws are hardened. If you try to drill a hole in one expect the drill to not start and slide off the screw. Be real careful not to break a bit or stick yourself. Best to use the tricks previously mentioned to unscrew them.
A Dremel with a cut off wheel can turn the ramped face into a slotted screw.
Has anyone tried glueing a shaft to the face of a screw with super glue or 5-minute epoxy?

The tool Squelchtone referred to is what I have used for a couple of decades now. By the way, you don't want to call an expensive locksmith ? Just for my own edification, How much is too much ?
