I think what were saying is, it is not the 3/16" that looks fat but rather the thickness of the fulcrum/curve that will enable to maneuver and manipulate the pins.
The length of the curve (3/16") is not the issue, that would make the pick be considered a deep hook to lift short key pins to the sheer line without disturbing the adjacent pins.
