Micrometric parts

I searched this section on key machines but didnt see what I was looking for.

I have a Micrometric key cutter. I need to get a cutter for it. I have looked but am a little confused with all the cutters available. Does anyone know off the top of your head which cutters work on that little machine and the best place to get them?

I have one at home, if no one knows what cutter it takes then I can look at mine to see if it has any numbers on it when I get home.

If nobody will know the specification, you should measure the inner/outer diameters and choose the shape according to the taster shape. As in the attached pictures (but different machine).

Here are some pics of mine (sorry admins if they are a little large 1024X768, I was trying for as much detail as possible)

Just one side has numbers on it... at top it says 23RF and on the bottom it says 26



It is 2.241 in diameter

This one looks like a direct replacement for mine as its 2 1/4" with 1/2" drive (mine too) and cuts in the same direction as well as looks just like it.

Yours may be different so please match it to your copy dog..

This one has the exact one but Im sure you dont want to pay all that money for 23 cutters just to get the one that works. It looks like it is made by Ilco and it is the 23RF #26

My cutter is an Ilco 23RF. Just like the one in the pic. The follower or dog has a sharper point. I would like to get a cutter that matches it. I am still looking. I'll find it. Thanks for the input.

HL Flake has them for $37 but will need to open an account to buy one, which if you are serious is a good idea.

Just looked up the CU1 in the Ilco catalog. It does has a radius but is smaller. .015" R. Better. Thanks for pointing that out. I am not sure that any cutter have a pure sharp edge with no radius or flat.

One-sided cutters use to have tip flat or with radius. Otherwise they would not last long, the angle is too sharp (45º).
Two-sided cutters (as in my 1st post) are available with a pure sharp tip (the angle is 80º or more).

I also have a Foley Belsaw key machine that has the 90 degree V cutter. I used it to cut an ASSA bump key. Have been working on it getting it zeroed. Going to sell one of the machines. Not sure which yet. I like the Foley because I can cut the ASSA with nice sharp corners and nice flats.
