To put it simply, ive always wanted to be a jack of all trades. In highschool I became proficient enough at bypassing computer security (just for fun, not to cause damage. i swear..

In a sense, what first attracted me to lock picking was my unfortunate habit of locking myself out of cars and dorm rooms. It is interesting to know that behind a thin door could be my most valuable possessions, yet if I lack a little piece of metal, Ive essentially locked myself away from what is rightfully mine. So, naturally, I seek to become self-sufficient enough to never feel locked out of my own car, house, apartment, lockbox, etc.
I have the willingness and motivation to learn, I just need to know where to get started. I have read the MIT guide as well as almost anything else I could find online on the subject, but I have not aquired any practice locks or lock pick sets. I would like to get a set that will allow me to learn but also be able to open basic doors and locks. Is this something a beginner set will allow me to do? If so, what is the current best deal on a decent set? I cannot make my own set as of yet...
My name is Dave and Im from New York, although Im currently in PA.
Thanks everyone!
