New to PL need some info on starting

Hey all, thanks for looking in this post to help me.I just started PL and i find it fascinating.I searched the house for some locks and found this http://img.ediy.co.nz/29079.jpg . The question is : Is this lock good for a begginer or is it pro or something :S ) Currently im using homemade toolsand paper clips and hairclips.(I know these tools are being looked down on,but im new to this whole thing so im giving it a try with them.) Thanks for your time! And if you can, throw some tips for PL such locks like the tri-circle one!

Thanks

Welcome,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).

Cheers,

Since paperclips are so flimsy and good for one use at best, you can't really develop any skill with them. I use paperclips for when say at work they lock the filing cabinet or key cabinet and rather than put the key back the person inadvertantly puts it in their pocket and goes to lunch or home etc. Paperclips are useful for these kinds of locks in emergencies but not much else.
Make some REAL picks or buy some then do the beginners exercise.
