Diffence between Wiesser and schlage pins

Postby drummond52 » 25 Jun 2007 23:13

Could anyone tell me if there is a difference between schlage and weisser pins, reason being I was looking at some pin kits on ebay and both sets had coloured pins but the colour for a particular size of pin on both sets were the same, leading me to believe that the pins are the same size for both, would this be right?. Thank you.................drummond

I would not count on either MAC value, until trying it out for yourself on a test key.

My Factory Spec Sheet directly from Falcon, which is what Weiser uses, says a MACS of 5. And other manuals suggest a MACS only as high as 6 (but this depends on your cutter).

Factory Schlage pins have a point to the bottom pins as well, where as the Weiser pins don not have a point, they are more stubby. Using stubby pins in a Schlage lock will sit too high sometimes because the cut's root width is not wide enough. Weiser's root width is wider by comparrison.

Schlage's root width is .039"
Weiser's root width is .079"
