Hello, Im new to Lock Picking 101, its a nice site you guys have.

I am also new to lock picking itself. I spent hours learning how a lock worked and all the different types of locks and the picks.

I bought a 12 pick set nothing great just to start to learn. But I became alright with raking the pins. I feel this really isn't picking and want to really know how to not just to cheat it.

I am trying to pick a rather easy lock to rack so I figure it's a nice lock to start with, though I have some questions...

Can a pin get stuck to far up in the lock? Say I have to much tension on it and I pull the pin up to far, could it get stuck?

Also, what is a good way of learning to feel the pins? I can never tell if the pin is pick or not I learned that if it is pick the pin wont push back down it will just fall so I understand that but when I put the pick into the lock I can't feel where the last pin is or even the first pin is

Any tips?

Thanks

been able to feel the pins is something you get able to do over time and pleanty of practise lockpicking isnt just something that you can pick up over night and be pro at it. just keep practising and you will get there eventualy.

and i dont think it is posable to puss the pin that far up i might be wrong but i think you might have to try realy hard to manage to get the pin stuck

Yes, it can and you really shouldn't have to put too much tension in order to pick the lock. Especially when you're just starting, the padlock's you'll be going through open up without a problem using light tension.

Just keep picking and read through anything you can get your hands on. The LSI and MIT guide are a great start, especially the LSI like Safety0ff already pointed out. Just by searching through this forum you should find the answers to most if not all of your questions.

Good luck and have fun.
