Sargent & Greenleaf combination pack

Postby Scatman » 15 Nov 2004 20:59

For $(US)15 plus $5 to ship I can get a S&G lock as shown. I don't know the model number. It comes with a change key, but no dial and plate.
The guy said for $45 plus $6 shipping he would sell me the lock; change key; instructions on how to change the combo; a dial; and plate.
Is this worth the money for
1)the lock with just the change key (and/or)
2)the package "deal"?
Thanks

have a look at the following on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT
2 S&G 6700's (group 2) - asking $25 each - buy it now for $30 complete pack - I bought one of these myself
and it's good.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT
La Gard 3330 group 2 asking $19.95

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT
used mosler group 1 asking $25 (this is being sold by a jewelry place - seems they replaced
their safe lock with an electronic one).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 61943&rd=1
S&G 3741 group 2 - current bid $23ish - this seller has 3 others going also.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT
used La Gard 1985 group 1 - asked $40 didn't sell.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 13995&rd=1
used "Mosler-Diebold-LaGard-Lefebure" (whatever that means) group 2 lock - starting bid $5.99

all of the above are complete locks
I'd say unless it's brand spanking new and/or it's a group 1 lock (which it doesn't look like it is),
then you're getting ripped off.
Oh look! it's 2016!

I think that's a bit high. I would keep looking.

I agree- the price seems high. You can do better on ebay..
You can find all of the instructions (for free even) on S&G's website, so I don't know why that would be something included for an extra price.
Their training brochure is particularly good- how to diagnose and deal with sticky wheels and such as well as just changing combos.

For comparison, I got a complete S&G 3 wheel lock kit for $25 and a box of parts with enough bits to build 4 diebolds and most of a lagard electronic lock for $30. It seems as though a lot of people are upgrading to electronic locks so there's a lot of surplus dial locks around.
