What else do I need?

Greetings!

After reading these forums (thanks), I believe that I ordered a cheap versatile selection for newbie tinkering and possible emergency use:

1) Double-Ended Snake-Hook Pick # SP-02
1) Double-Ended Jag Snake-Half Diamond # SP-03
1) 2-Finger Tension Wrench # TW-231 (good for dust covers?) Picture Link
1) Replacement Tension for BROCKHAGE # TW-10
(double ended spring steel Z and "unique because one end of the tool
is narrow"; comments?) Picture Link

Question: Do I also need a ball or double ball to have success with wafer or double wafer auto door locks, or could I get by with the above snakes, hook, and half diamond for occasional use? I hate to pay shipping, I wish I would have posted this question BEFORE ordering! (premature epickulation)

Thanks for any help

ps- just asking car lock tool advice, not techniques in this open forum
pss- I strive to be self-sufficient, so tools/abilities are crucial thus my interest in lock picking (and it sounds fun and challenging!)
psss- I went all double-ended (cheap) because I 'm unsure if I can even pick at all...
pssss- tried paperclip + screwdriver; VERY unpleasant introduction to lock picking hehehe

Hey

Well the Ball picks might help you but you can just use a diamond on wafer locks on one side then just turn it over but if you prefer you could just get a single ball pick and that would work fine :D

that's a pretty good set to get you started. as for the wafer locks, like geek said, a small half diamond should work fine. you could probably even use a hook!

Oddly enough, the dyno kwikpick is a nice size for some auto locks. If you are interested in auto picks, check out brockhage.

I use a ball pick on almost everything because it doesn't scrape on the pins as much as snake and diamond picks do. I think it's all about preferance and what feels good for you. A snake and diamond will work on wafers. As I said, It's all about preferance. If you have already ordered, don't worry. If you like lockpicking, you can always order more picks later. Hope this helped.

Hello,

Thank you for the information, it definately helped. I enjoyed all of the posts in this message thread. They were just what I wanted. I ordered a ball, a "key profile" (L-rake?), and a Brockage proprietary key jiggler.

The key jiggler looks interesting but the website that sold it to me said they haven't received any feedback on it yet. It's one of the very few that i have seen that wasn't sold as part of a large set, so for $4 why not?

I have picked 5 different padlocks, a Kwikset knob and deadbolt, and a file cabinet, but I'm leary of trying a car door because I understand they can be damaged fairly easily. I'm thinking of buying some auto locks from a junkyard for my type of vehicle for practice if they're not too expensive. Is that how most people learn auto entry?
