DETEX locks

Postby mallardmikec » 25 May 2006 20:34

i've got a detex mortice lock that I don't know anything about. I've picked it once only in one direction. Can anyone tell me anything about DETEX locks?

I don't have one, and have never had the opportunity to check one out up close and personal, but I did find the following information:

http://www.mfsales.com/book02/116-117.pdf
http://www.detex.com

Detex locks appear to be basic mortise cylinders that fit into a contraption that allows free passage only if you have a disable key or if you trigger the alarm.

The ECL-600 (from the above link) and others seems to use a 5-pin cylinder, but can accomodate a 6 or 7 pin cylinder if necessary. As near as I can tell they all use a standard Yale cam.

Hope this helps. If you have more specific questions, better answers could probably be given... :-)

The Detex push bars we use at work are fitted with Schlage cores and we also have a couple Medecos. I dont think Detex actually makes locks, just Fire Exit push bars and strobe lights, access control, etc. So any IC core rim will do.

here's what DETEX says about the model I have:

* Accepts 5-pin through 7-pin standard and interchangeable core rim cylinders

* ECL-230D may be used on narrow doors and ECL-230D-PH (long bar version) on 36" - 48" wide doors

hope this helps,
