That is a factory cutaway.
The tolerances seem looser to me simply because the check pin is in the mix. It just seems pretty straight forward as you pick the pins until no more bind, lift the check pin and then continue picking until open.
The check pin was never designed for pick resistance however. It was only placed there for a bit more key control which I guess it does accomplish slightly since it protects against hardware store duplications.
