If it's a simplex, one of the wheels in the combo chamber may be stuck. You can check this by turning the lever twice, then listen carefully as you press each button once. You should feel and here a slight "click". if not, then one of the buttons is not entering. The lock needs serviced.

What's this magic bypass then?

I installed one, and the customer called a few days later to say it had failed - but they bought the hardware, so it wasn't really my problem, and not my fault. By the time I got there (40 minutes) they had used a screwdriver and just forced the bolt back, regardless of the anti-slip bit. Left a heck of a mark on the door and frame.

I'd warned them this was possible when I fitted it, and to use the deadlock when the office was empty. Which is probably where they got the idea from!

I've found a few where the anti-slip latch part will let you slip it if you hit the door hard as you apply bolt pressure. It bounces it slightly, and pop! Works well on a lighter door that's a bit loose.

Bypass and for that matter the discussion of opening the simplex type locks is for the advanced froums only,

NKT if you read elsewhere you will find the bypass :wink:

No, its easy to tell this feature by looking at the bottom of the thread and seeing which section its in, this is in locks and not advanced locks so therefore public :wink:
