It certainly wouldn't be a bad choice, assuming you don't mind spending the money up front. I have the ultimate challenge practice lock and really like it; I can pin it any way I want, including ways you won't find in the real world, and it's fairly fast.
The question to ask yourself is: "if I buy this lock, will it save me money on practice locks in the long run?" If your answer is yes then definitely go get it, otherwise grab a cheap padlock off the shelf at your hardware store and see if you want to go further.
