Would this practice lock be good for me?

Postby austinc » 8 Nov 2011 22:13

I'm new to lockpicking so I want to make sure this is good before I buy it. I should be able to remove the pins from this so I could have 1-5 pins to practice picking, right? Would this be good for a beginner?

Well is true is not even a cutaway lock, you should go to home depot or your local hardware store
and get some cheaper locks, like schlage or kwiwset or master padlock to practice on
hope this helps.

Get a Kwikset double deadbolt for 12$ at home depot.

It certainly wouldn't be a bad choice, assuming you don't mind spending the money up front. I have the ultimate challenge practice lock and really like it; I can pin it any way I want, including ways you won't find in the real world, and it's fairly fast.

The question to ask yourself is: "if I buy this lock, will it save me money on practice locks in the long run?" If your answer is yes then definitely go get it, otherwise grab a cheap padlock off the shelf at your hardware store and see if you want to go further.
