1. Can't find anything via Google except someone selling the same brand on Kijiji over in Halifax
2. Contact person on Kijiji and ask them for any information on the manufacture
3. Only information the persons says is that is on the packaging is the Walmart Canada Corp. Mississauga, Ontario L5N 1P2
4. Contact Walmart via 1-800 number and they have a very hard time finding out if it's a Walmart product. At first they said they couldn't figure it out with the UPC or receipt but after being on hold they said it was in fact a Walmart product and that it would be up to the store manager if they could exchange it (because I didn't have a receipt).
5. Call local Walmart and explain story. Representative tells me that her manager has said that they'll exchange it.
6. Go into Walmart an hour later and the representative at the front desk is like 'LOL u want to replace a ten year old lock, GTFO n00b'
7. Wait for manager to come from the back.
8. Tell manager my story and she says follow her over to the hardware/home department.
9. While walking she says the product is surprisingly in good condition and mentions that they did in fact sell this product.
10. When we get over to the isle with locks, I show her the picture on my phone of the packaging and she checks out a few products.
11. She says I can exchange with and Epic Locks deadbolt and she allowed me to choose a finish.
12. I choose this lock which normally costs $16.97
13. She tells me to keep my receipt next time and that she was surprised I tracked it down to Walmart
14. Tells me to go back to customer service and tell them she said I could exchange it
15. Go back over to customer service, representative is in utter shock that I was able to get an exchange
16. Sign a receipt and I'm out of there. I didn't even have to give my name or phone number (huge shock).
That is how I taught Walmart for claiming a lifetime warranty.
