Picking Corbin Russwin Pyramid

Is it even feasible? I'm asking because I've bought a DL3000 and plan on installing it when i move into my own place. Standard cylinders seem pretty easy to pick, so i thought a Pyramid cylinder would be a little tougher.

cdstines22, I don't personally own any Pyramid stuff, but it looks basically like a standard 7 pin cylinder with security pins and extra interactive "check pins" similar to a Schlage Everest (the non-Primus version). But perhaps a bit more secure than the Everest as it looks like the check pins may not be the same across the entire system. That would certainly be a tougher pick than a standard cylinder, but not impossible by any means by someone with sufficient skill. Looks like the main advantage of a Pyramid cylinder would be key control, as it has an active utility patent and even after that expires I'm sure CR will tightly control distribution of blanks. Also drill resistance if you get the UL437 version.

Cool. It always seemed to me like something you might need specific tools for.

No specific tools needed.

aside from the cool factor, do look at the weak links in your home security and the message of the system. is the door frame reinforced with a long enough dead bolt? is there an easy to open window? not that you shouldn't add a fun lock because you want to, but calling attention to your door with a higher security lock with an easy to open window in the back is more of an invitation than a deterrent.

That's being handled as well.

I've also started to consider an ASSA Twin.

Not sure if meant twins for installing or picking but if you want some inexpensive used Twins to pick at I would suggest SecuritySnobs. They are $20 a cylinder w/ key but they don't recommend them for actual use because the buy in bulk and more than one person could have a key.
