Beginner pick set

I was planning on buying a set of lockpicks. All I have used before were paperclips, needles and the such I was just wondering what would be a good set for a beginner? Something that isnt too expensive. I managed to open the lock to my back door twice with a safety pin and a screwdriver, That Isnt exactly the easiest way. The pain starts to come from the constant twisting of the screwdriver....but yeah.

Well I opened a deadbolt lock twice with a safety pin and a screwdriver,It took a while.

A safety pin is different, as it is much better metal than a paper clip, I have used a safety pin myself on very small locks, but never a paper clip.

It's a good set for beignners, but after a while those might bend because they are made out of thin aluminum, with no metal body or nothing. I would suggest a small non-expensive HPC set, with a body on the picks.

Well, It says they are made of stainless steel so I would be prone to think they are.

Sorry for that, I tought they where made out of aluminum. I still suggest the HPC set with the body on it. Not only will they last longer, but they also have a nice grip to them and they better looking.

How can you not like it ? You develope losts and losts of patient and your learning how to pick locks, which is great. Plus you can make a career out of this.

You can make nice handles that are easy to grip if you get a small amount of heat-shrink tubing and cover them with that. That is what vavere and I do. We have a set of picks just like yours and they are fine.
