Christopher have we not spoken about this lot beforeThey have a few insurance contracts,ive done a few bits for them in the past.Received a cheque from them yesterday actually,for a job i did in May,minus their cut and a CIS deduction, annoying to say the least!Cant be arsed to do anything for them now really,although never say never eh?( dont want to be accused of bullshitting again do i

CIS deduction, you might need to point out that locksmiths are ment to be exempt from that. We are most definatly exempt if we open a lock, replace like for like and anything to do with safes.

Bit of a grey area this one,ive only had about 2 or 3 companies insist on this Lock Solutions being one of them.I got a CIS card a few years ago when another company asked for it not sure as its really still valid as weve become a ltd co since.Im not sure of the ins and outs of it but i beleive if you are fitting locks on a new build you need a CIS card

Mate, Simon has a letter from the tax office stating we are exempt but I think you may be right about new builds

I think what theyre saying is we can "say" we are exempt if nessercary but if a company insist on it or they dont use you, then you can obtain one .As i say tis a pain in the jacks getting tax deducted at source but if you need it for the work then you can get one.

I found a CIS card to be very handy, do a few jobs here and there and have the tax deducted at source, when the time comes to do your tax return most of your bill has already been paid = much less cash to find to give the bloody tax man.

Thanks Martin, thanks Paul, i wont worry myself withone for now, there has been a cap put on all local new builds for 10 years now, there is 1 housing project of 20 houses to be finished and then thats it, ive not managed to get in on any of the others they seem to get the door fitter to do it or the doors came with them on, not sure either way but each time i asked i was told i wasnt wanted.
