[The Strange One]

Hello, this is my first post here. Recently, I lost the keys to my shed, and ended up calling a someone to pick the lock. I'm trying to develop at least some skill in lockpicking.

I'm trying to make a lockpick (essentially basic) out of stuff around my house. Does anyone have any experience in this sort of stuff?

Well to start off, do you know anything about locks ? i would strongly suggest that you read the MIT LockPicking Guide and that you understand the basics of locks, then we can move on.

And to anwser your question, yes, you can make picks, tension wrenchs and many other things made from stuff from your home. I'll dig up a couple of posts that you might be interseted in friend..

Also, I can't find it right now, but PYRO1234321 once made a video on how to make picks out of hacksaw blades..Try the search button on that one..

I know the basic concept of it and I'm reading the guide (I'll post when I'm done).

I used small piano wire and ground it down to a rectangular shape. It worked great for my first lock. I found that the hobby store stocks any size you could want. Its also cheap and strong. I did find you have to be careful not to damage the pins. The piano wire is alot stronger that the lock. I believe they also use the wire in R/C airplanes for strength. Good luck.
