There are so many picks and so many methods, there is no real "best pick" and "Best technique". There are some methods that work a little better on a brand of locks, such as Kwikset. Because of the manufacturing process and the quality of the lock, it responds very well to raking with a diamond pick. But again it depends on the lock, and the pinning of the lock. As far as security measures, the pins can be serrated, spool, or mushroom. But usually you dont see these on anything less than a government building or a bussiness. I suggest you search this site and get a MIT Guide to lockpicking. Hope this helps
