You will get better answers if you provide a model number of the lock.

Cheers!

Your pick is not right at all. Do a search on this site for some images of picks along side a scale to get an idea of just how big the picks need to be  .
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Umm... I... don't... think... so..... :?

Is it a Master lock? Or a KRYPsomething (Kryptonite?)?

If it's a Master that costs around $14, it's probably not a huge challenge, but that depends on your level skill.

Turn the pick over (flat side up) and insert the pick all the way into the keyway and lift all the pins. Slowly, withdraw the pick listening, feeling and counting the clicks. Ths will tell you how many pins the lock has.

If you can't hear the clicks buy/make a pick that looks like ------1\

put it all the way to the end of the lock and pull outwards from there. The flat end of the pick(opposite the arrow side) will stop at each of the pins. When you reach a pin skip over it and keep going to the next one.

This is one of the most foolproof way of determining the number of pins in a lock if you don't have perfect hearing. It can also be good if you are missing one last pin in a lock you hae to pick, but you can't find it.
