shutting bs lever locks

Postby capt.dunc » 13 Oct 2005 11:37

i've been getting sorted for doing warrent work and i've hit a problem, my prefered opening is picking, and therefore i pick to relock, which isn't a problem for a large number of locks, but i can't for the life of me get a wallsall a55 picked shut again.

anyone got any good tips or ideas for relocking lever locks?

Don't fully unlock it - only withdraw the bolt sufficiently to open the door.

Failing this, you could take the lock out of the door and manually place the stump in the gate before putting it back into the door. lock by using a curtain turner to throw the bolt.

And, as you no doubt know Rockford, all easier said than done if the door is a tight fit in the frame!

This really is where the SV kits come in very handy indeed.

Agreed - but the question was related to picking, and not decoding. Having the appropriate decoder, and therefore the "key", will always make life easier when securing a property.

On a tight fitting door and frame, only just throw the bolt then use key turner/flat head screwdriver to keep max tension and pull the door closed, this should work almost every time.
Now having said that I will not be able to lock the next ten doors I open.

Work almost every time?! You know the next time you try this Chris...Mr Sod and a certain law of his springs to mind! I've had it on more than one occasion where it just has not been possible to do it!

Always look around for keys whilst you're inside on a warrant as you sometimes get lucky and can simply lock up and post the key through the letterbox.

Yes Mate, fate has now been tempted I will pay for that comment. You are right to look for keys they come in very handy when the door slams with your tools inside, O how I laughed as I climbed in the window

all good advice , cant really add to it, other than say get decoders, failing this it will be only a small % of locks that cant be set in gate prior to locking up.
