You might want to check the forum guidelines on that sig. It's a little...erm... too large.
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

I dunno man, a little flag is going up. That sig is.... not appropriate, and I hope that when you picked that window lock, you owned it and weren't doing anything that you shouldn't.
Some things may be pick proof, but everything can be bypassed....

I think that should be for someone to say, THAT HAS THEIR OWN PROFILE FILLED OUT, don't you?
Oh, and Darkash!
Your sig makes me sick and not want to answer any of your questions.
It is too big, inappropriate and offensive on many levels,
ESPECIALLY ON THIS SITE!!
Oh, and to keep the peace, I am not going to call you a f****n loser.

I'm still on dial-up (yeah, I know, I know) and I hadn't seen the full sig...I assume it's animated? I only saw the initial size of it and made my comment on that alone.
Judging from the reactions of Chrispy & Helix, and the fact that the sig has been removed, don't expect any further help from me!

Don't be too hard on yourself. Welcome to LP101.
Just try to keep the homicidal tendencies to yourself.

All of those websites were you can find and buy picks are nice...if you have a credit card! This poor 14 year old isn't going to go up to his parents and get them to purchase something like that!
I found my set at a local gun and knife show. Yes, I realize you have to be 18 to get into those shows. Have an older friend go with you as a guardian (they don't really check you unless you have a gun on you). But still you don't have to explain a credit card bill to your parents.
Please note that I assume you are like me at your age and don't want your parents to know about this.
On a side note you can find lots of nifty things at a gunshow: night-vision goggles, surveillance equipment, carbon fiber knives (so they don't set off metal detectors...they are legal in my state), and lots of other useful gadgets.

The first thing I did was tell my mother that I'm doing this, followed by her asking reasons why, and I just know that she appreciates that I'm as open with her as I am.

Good advice Minion.

If you have to go behind someone's back to do something, you shouldn't be doing it. Respect is gained by being up-front about your intentions, rather than getting found out and having to explain afterwards.
eviscerator0487: you should have a good read at this thread...

The end result was totally not what the OP expected initially.
Parents can come across as being over-strict, especially at your age, but their best interests are with you. Be completely honest about what you want, and why you want it. You may just be surprised at their reaction.
Now I feel like an agony aunt...
Anyone got in-growing toenails? I've got a good remedy made from dandelion leaves, teabags and lemongrass.

Man. When I read that I was gonna pull the post, but I think Mick's response was the only thing that saved it.
Dude, respect your parents.

sorry about that . I guess I should have reconsidered some of my statements, or finished my story.
I did end up telling them about my fascination with lockpicking. They were initially shocked but after some explaining they realized that it was the challenge that intrigued me. My parents were more understanding than I thought they would be.

You have to understand there is more than one way to skin a cat. If you can't afford to buy picks, do a search on homemade picks. I could buy any pickset out there, but I bought a small set, and while I was waiting I made my own based on info from this site. While a set bought from a company is nice, a homemade set will work, and all it costs you is about a dollar and some time making it. Hope this helps.
Every day above ground is a good day
