Hi!

I am just about to order some picks and stuffs from lockpickshop.com, and I just have some questions.

My order is going to sweden, the things I shall order has a value on ~160$
I'm paying with VISA
It contain a tubular-pick, a pickgun, and a normal pickset. (No tryout keys or stuff like that)
So, how will they ship my package? Do I have to go to my postoffice and get it out or is it going home to my door, directly, in that case, with the ordinary post or is it some package-company that brings it to my door?
How much is the shipping/handling gonna cost me?

What about the customs? Can they stop/take my package? If they do, what happen? Is the money thrown in the lake or will i get them back?

What about the shipping-time? How long do I have to wait for my dear package?

And correct me if I'm wrong, but the 7pin tubular locks are the most common in sweden?

I'm really sorry for my bad english, and I think I maneged to put the thread in the right place, if not, I'm really sorry for that to.
I really liked some answers to my questions, because it's a quite big order, and I'm quite paranoid, i don't wanna pay something that I never get, and I dont wanna get a shipping bill on 200$ or something.

Thanks! //Macke
BTW The forum rocks! :)

Can't help you with all the questions as I never ordered from them, but...

The best way to find out what the supplier will charge for shipping is to ask them. If the on-line ordering doesn't tell you at the time, then don't order anything till you have emailed them and asked.

When the goods reach the customs, then they can open it. If they decide that the goods are illegal imports, then they can keep the goods (in the best case you just lose your money, if the police are interested it will be worse). If they allow the goods to be imported you may have to pay import duty if the goods are classed by swedish customs as attracting import duty. You will also be liable to pay value added tax (OMS) at the normal swedish rate on both the value of the goods and also on any import duty. The method of carriage will determine how you have to pay this; it may be collected at the post office, or you may be contacted and asked to send the money somewhere.

Having said all this you may just be lucky and not have to pay anything. It's a gamble.

A way to avoid the customs hassle is to use a supplier within the EU boundaries. There is a much better chance of not having the goods examined, as they are probably only looking for dangerous goods, and not collecting tax. I have never had any goods internal to the EU opened.

On the other hand I have often been charged for CD's and books from outside the EU.

Hope that helps. Hope someone from within sweden who has actually tried this supplier can also answer you...

When I ordered my picks from www.lockpicks.com it took less than a week for my package to arrive. The package arrived to my post office but thats often different for what site u order from.
The shipping cost is usually displayed and payed when u order from the webpage.
And if you are worried about the swedish customs the worst case cenario is that they make u pay a few% extra tax on your order. They will however NOT take your package because lockpicks are prefektly legal in sweden.

And yes the 7pin tub lock is the most common in sweden.

So, shall we guess that you're from Sweden then? May be good advice, but it would have been better if your profile was filled out. 8)
