Hi there,
Well, I`m going to order a lockpick set soon I guess, course right now all I`v got is a silly screwdriver that are bent(using it as the tention wrength) and some needles to use as picks. So, I`v got no special tools yet, but still I`v managed to open up 3 padlocks with 5 pins...
Now I have a little problem with one of my locks. I guess it has one ore several mushroom pins in it, but the ting is that I actually managed to open this lock when I was in bed! haha... I just had to try it for fun, and it pop open right away!!!! But I cant get it open again. I feel I get 4/5 pins right i think, sounds like that when I`m releasing the tention after a failed attempt.
My question is then: Hos could I pick this lock if it got these mushroom pins? Like, I cant push up 2 mushrooms pins at the sime time..
Thx in advance And sorry for my english

Read the MIT guide to lockpicking and search around here to learn techniques for feeling out security pins.
Just because you hear the pins dropping when you release tension doesn't mean you've correctly set them. You have a higher chance of having them either set in the mushroom anti-pick area or overset. It is difficult with non-pick shaped tools [needles], you might try making your own improvised picks from any of the selection of materials available from around the house, as suggested in many threads of this forum. Keep trying, don't give up and happy picking! ~Grit.
Got shear line?

Hey man!
Buy yourself some hacksaws blades and make some picks. They don't cost much, and you will have much more fun picking with decent tools. Go buy some, and search this site for Pyro's video (it's in the FAQ section - just search ) You'll have fun, and you'll also have a set of decent tools which'll make your life easier.
The mushroom pins, and other security pins aren't like others, and you need to find out where they are in the lock and target them first. Now to pick them you are going to need lighter tension than you normaly would, and you'll need to try and develope a sense for when the pins are false set, and when they are at their true sheerline. A tip I find useful is to bump your tension lightly (change the tension slightly - it's a bit like a pulsing tension) This with practice will help the pins to jump to the sheerline avoiding false-setting. Once you have set the mushroom pins then pick the others as usual, and bob's-your-uncle you'll have your lock open in no time
the MIT guide is your best mate for picking cylinder locks. Read it, practice, read again to try and fix a problem, then practice some more. Sounds lame, and like a lot of work, but it's worth it in the end
p.s: fill in your profile, and people will be able to better help.

But yes, will read the MIT guide. I`v been on this site before, but havn`t postet that much:P hehe... And as I said, I`m going to buy me a good cet og picks... =D
Since I`m living in Norway, and I just cant find an places they sell picks here, I have to buy from this site, or other lockpick sites, and therefor I`ll go for a big set right away I think.. That way I don`t have to pay all the extra fees like transport and that several times
I was aiming for maybe the 62-piece set some plase here on the net, witch contains euro/japan/UK/USA picks... What do you guys reccomend? I`m going to use about 500-1000 KR, about 150$ at max.. I think hehe... Any tips for good stuff I should buy? stuff you`v tried and still love? =) Maybe a handset to have with me.. No idea..
Thx:)

if I'm to be honest a set of... 9 picks should set you up.
the Southord reference number for this set is: C801
I got this and it has done me proud.
the only thing I'm not sure of is whether you need slimline picks in Norway... anyone else know?
p.s: Euro, Japan, UK picks are all the same... The USA ones are thicker

Hmmm, I think I need slimline picks.. if that`s what the euro picks are too? Course, Norway is a part of europe..
The most common doorlock here is the TrioVing lock... Think I`v heard it`s pretty hard to pick...

Slimline picks are for Euro locks.
I have never heard of your lock, but the website is here:

I don't speak Norwegian, so I can't make any sense of it... maybe it will be of use?

TrioVing has locks in all security ranges from standard to high security. Some of their systems are similar to the schlage primus/Assa twin systems.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Hmm...
Is there any way for me to find out what locks I need? Like, can I see how thick the key is, how high, and so on, then you could tell me what pick system to use?
This is what I got:
thick: 2mm
hight: 8mm (highest point))
length: 32mm
Thx in advance
