Hi, I'm Ekco_Star and I just joined. I'm very intersted at picking locks, even though I'm not good at it. But that's why I came here, to learn, watch, and get better! Does anyone know where I can get some good lock picking sets?
It's not stealing if you don't get caught.

Hello everyone. I joined a few days ago. I have been reading like crazy. There is an incredable amout of information and very helpfull members.
I have read the thread about where to buy and what to buy. I have a question about the MPXS-14. What is the difference between the MPXS-14 and the PXS-14. They appear to be the same but the price and the PXS-14 comes with sleeves.
Thanks.

Greetings, everyone. I'm new to this site, but have a long fascination with locking mechanisms. My interest began with disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling the lockwork on an antique revolver -- purely by accident, as the revolver was gunked up by time. After successfully restoring it to silky-smooth operation, I began monkeying with the deadbolts around here. A little adjustment here, replacement there, etc. I've concluded that the crafty geniuses who design these mechanisms deserve great bronze statues in their honor.
While researching new locksets for my home, it's pretty quickly obvious that most Home-Depot-type homestores only carry relatively crappy stuff. However, while checking Consumer Reports' new lock reviews, they compared Medico (top of the line) favorably with the Weslock brand. The Weslock's one weakness was reported to be a vulnerability to either drilling or sawing; I can't remember which.
Should one opt for the pricey Medico locks, or take one's chances with the very reasonable Weslock brand? Any insight or advice is appreciated.

Greetings new members.
wimb: I have crappy Home Depot "Defiant" brand locks on my house. I'd bet that if my house ever gets broken into it likely won't be as a result of lockpicking. It'll be because of a size 11 boot to the door. But, if you're concerned, Medecos are really wonderful locks.

Hello, My name is Brett.
I came across your site while looking from information on buying a home safe. Needless to say 5 hours later I am still reading!
The search feature is nice but would it be possible to search my subject or title only.
Anyways I have alot to learn and so many questions.

Hi new guys (or gals?... nah.. probably wishful thinking....)
law: I don't think you can search based only on subject, but you can specify which forums to search, so that might help you pare down the results.
dpicka: Yes, here is the best tip I can give you. Search, read, and learn. There's a ton of great info here, just do like lawdog and spend the next 5 hours reading it.
Enjoy the site!
