McDonald's making keys

I was at McDonald's last night made two transponder car keys $75 each and 6 home keys $3.00 each. Owners/managers cool with it, he lost his keys and I open one of the must be open doors, for him one day.

So anyone who is thinking of doing this part time (like me) or full time not hard to make a few $$$. Past out cards, be able to make a key on site.

If you put a sign up on a lamp post in a local village or an estate saying 'Key cutting and car key programming here on Monday' and go and park up at the end of the street on said day you will get loads of custom,

Ive only done it once but got Â£325 in 2 hours!!!

It started getting cold around here though so im leaving that one until the new year but it was well worth the effort.

when I was doing it last night I was only for one person, but other came up to me and ask me if I could make them one also. If I had a sign up or ask others I wold have been there all night. I have a cheap cuter its slow, I need to get a bigger motor for it,(NO I not going to use my sewing machine motor

) and save up for a code cuter.

I dont really need a code cutter, im happy with a duplicator and code keys, my tibbe machine cuts to code though and my laser machine is in the process of being modified to cut to code by myself.

Normal wafer locks are easy to cut to code without the expensive machines, you just need the correct paperwork.

I have the BELSAW MODEL 200 it works but slow, has stock motor would like to double the motor HP. Think the Belsaw can handle the extra power, looks well made.

Would like to buy a better one later and use the Belsaw as a back up, but for the amount of keys I make the Belsaw will do for now.

Really? That would strike me as awfully dodgy. Some guy cutting and programming car keys out the back of his van in a garage sale. :lol:

I don't think you will have a problem increasing the HP of the motor. Just make sure that you select a motor that has the same RPM. The cutters might not take it if you increase the speed. As far as I know FB had that motor specially made for them. It is a 5,000 rpm/Two pole motor. No markings for a HP. My electical code book doesn't even cover motors below 1/6HP. So there is no way to tell what that one is rated at.

Yes but i didnt mention garage sale, although i did do a car boot sale during the year with normal key cutting as i didnt have my programmers then.

What you dont realise is that im in the middle of nowhere and theres no lcla lockies nor are there any places that cut car keys not alone program them, i get asked to cut house keys because the local hardware shop only cuts yale 1A's and a couple of 2/3 lever mortice lock blanks and even then they dont work and i get called because the lock doesnt work to find that the key is just cut wrong!!

See you point though if in a big city i suppose.

The motor thats on it now is a Dayton Modle 9M547 1/15 h.p. @5000 rpm
