Just got my first set of picks today, naturally, I had to try them out...
Keep in mind that I have never picked lock before today, and my only reali instruction is the MIT guide....
First lock cheap interior door lock, 5 minutes, three tries with three picks and two different tension tools.
WHAT A RUSH WHEN I HEARD THAT BUTTON POP OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!
The half ball did the trick.
Second lock, master lock, two tools 10 seconds!
Ok, so maybe I'm not setting records, but so far this is a blast!

Welcome seabear!
Congrats on your first couple victories. I only wonder if we should be expecting a "I was picking a lock on my house and I broke it" thread from you anytime soon. Anyway, be careful, don't mess with locks you really rely on, and enjoy the site!
Cheers!

Just another "i'm new" post.
I'm from Melbourne, Vic, Australia and have been interested in locks, lock smithing and lock picking for a long time. Only recently decided to look for message boards rather than equipment and books, and am definently not disappointed!! I've been considering locksmithing/security as a career lately, so this seems like a good place to start.
Anyway, I am a total novice (the only 'picking' method I know involved forcing back the bolt on a door using a shoelace and a paper clip, very basic and very unusual to find a door it will work on) and I'm very much looking forward to learning all that I can.
