Combo shimmy

I looked at the combination lock shimmying video and I really couldn't see what you where doing. could you maybe explain it?

The piece of thin metal (the shim) is inserted in the shackle hole and wedged between the shackle and the bolt to allow the shackle to pop out, opening the lock.

Try searching on that one, and you'll get some info on how to shim a padlock. It's called bypassing.
