Finally!

I have been struggling with an old door knob that I have (not sure of the brand. there are no markings) for a very long time. I have a SouthOrd set, and have tried it with every pick I could think of. I have been raking it, and trying to pick it one pin at a time, to no avail at all. I gave up on it for a couple weeks, and recieved a few Rytan picks in the mail yesterday (just to see what they were like). I got a diamond-hook which my SouthOrd set didnt have, and after only a few minutes, I got it! I could actually feel it picking one pin at a time. Then I did it again and again. It is such a relief to finally get it open. I'm not saying that SouthOrd picks are bad, and that Rytans are better, (I'm not experienced enough to judge that anyway) but it sure did seem that the Diamond-hook helped out a lot.

I'll say it. SouthOrd picks are by no means bad, but Rytan picks are better. Especially the diamond hook.

It's from Rininger Lock and Supply. They only have a few rytan picks. They have some HPC's also. I was happy enough to find any at all. I didnt think I would ever be able to get some. I ordered all the rytans (5) besides the ball.
No questions or anything. Very fast shipping too.

I'll agree with CitySpider Rininger is a good company to order from. I e-mailed Chuck Riniger once and he told me they also carry the rest of the Rytans but they just aren't up on the site.

Has anyone tried that HPC jacknife pick?, and if so is it good quality?

Does that website accept money orders or do you have to call?

I've heard from a couple of independent sources that the HPC jackknife can't hold a candle to the SouthOrd, and the SouthOrd is hardly the best thing out there.

No idea. I'd imagine you'd have to call for a money order.

AN UPDATE ON THE RYTAN PICKS

Rininger supply does carry many more Rytan picks than what is shown on the website. This is the email that Chuck Rininger sent me:

"...our on line catalog only has a small fraction of what we really deal in"

Yeah, i dont understand it. I placed an order a week ago, and got it today, and I love the 5 rytans i got. I heard that they have more, and I emailed him, and he said its true. I just placed an order for 6 more. I would have ordered them all already. They would be the only place it seems, that would sell rytans and hpc's to anyone. Maybe they are trying to keep low profile? I dont know...
