Hello all - NEWB here.
3 years ago my wife and I bought a house and the previous owner had left us a safe (gardall) with a Sagent-Greenleaf combo lock. The combo was unknown to her, but at least it was open.
Having only a "mechnic's" understanding of locks (ie it has wheels, levers, etc) it took me about 4 hours to figure out the combination.
Fast forward, I locked the safe and could not find the combination

So I looked around the web and found LP101 (great site).
I was a little bummed that advanced information was not available to me, but certainly understand why....and I still needed to figure out a way to open the safe up.
Forced to look elsewhere, I found a how-things-work web-venue (that will remain nameless - less I violate rule number 18

) that reviewed safe-cracking in general.
It gave a nice review of basic dial-type combo locks and talked about everything from basic operation with animated graphics, manipulation, to more agressive means of entry (drills, HE, etc).
Well I was just about to break out the Stethescope and start the tedious task of Manipulation (as described by Harry C. Miller)

and I thought I realy do not have time for this

But I do have time to take one more look for the combo that I had written down and luckily I found it on a little scrap of paper I had locked up inside my other safe.
So that is my story.

BTW - if asked by the moderator(s) I will glady pass on the url - I think it is a great link for the NEWBs
