HELP the new Jock Lockie!!!

Dear Sirs, some sound advice please. I recently had a short training stint with PINKY, (luckily enough), his enthusiasm is infectious and i am dead keen to launch my own venture. Martin has helped me whenever i asked but he needs a break now and then to get his anorak off!!

I proposed some costs to a local authority who maintain approx 30k homes offering a saving of around Â£100k based on my previous employment with them. This was based on gaining access to locked properties / homes that their own joiners would force open and would require follow on costs i.e new doors or repairs.

I have an extensive Joiners / Carpenters toolkit (being one to trade) and some basic locksmith gear;

pick set, curtain pick, pick gun, CB loose pick, bump keys, drill template,
mica, padlock shims, jiggler keys, 7 guage mortice pick, 3 & 5 lever pick.

I would like feed back on the following tools as to their suitability and any other USEFULL advice!!

Letter box tool
Snapper (I fully intend to be ND, BUT AS A LAST RESORT)
Chubb 114 decoder
Union decoder
Warded key set,
Securefast decoder, as the local authority fitted these until recently, they now fit 'arrone'! any feed back on these b*gg**s

I appreciate this is a long message but I am a virgin 'postee' if that is a word didn't think poster looked right!!

I have also found that in Scotland no one considers using a locksmith 1st is this a regional thing?

Hi Pindropper and welcome

The letter box tool has been very handy for me in the past, I have used it 7 times in the last 8 months, one time was to flick the mains power switch on so the electric garage door can be opened to gain access to the fuse box.

The snapper is handy when the cylinder is broken (hence wont pick).

I find a extendable magnet handy for retrieving keys through a letter box or small opening.

all the tools you ask about are worthwhile and valuable additions that will form an important part of your kit, except for the warded pick set.

securefast kit, 2 minute opening 100% , chubb 114 kit with practice 100% opening in under 10 mins, add a wire free cctv camera to you letterbox kit for amazing results, snapper bar ( YUK ) but bloody handy.

all are good.

best way to beat arone lock is to bend an L wire to avoid warding and adapt a J wire ( button hook ) to overlift and defeat this lock quickly.

Anorak ( bloody cheek) dedicated picker , not train spotter.

i to was trained by the ANORAK pinky as well and yes his enthusasim is very infectious and costy (tools)

Whats with the ANORAK THING, infectious ? you make me sound like a disease.

If ive made a few more of you as committed to NDE as i am and as committed to practice and investing in tooling, then i appologise to your wives as its them that will suffer as highlighted below.

Now quickie ( as emma calls you )

if we want to talk committed anorak my friend, how many pickers would be so into a lock to ignore a naked woman pleading for your attention ? hmm 1 springs to mind , so upset was she , that she considered an all girls together disco downstairs

I admit to anorak status and proud of it too, and the group is growing

But to be honest, i train alot of good guys , most end up sharing my passion for NDE , but the desire must be there before they come to me.
Quicklocks has achieved more than many, in a short time went from novice to teaching MLA master locksmiths how to pick BS3621 locks, now tims a great chap , hes got no special talent , just a desire to win the battle and an unrivaled commitment to practice.

Its this commitment to practice , the hours spent stripping and understanding the locks to be picked and the ANORAK style dedicated committed practice That guys that tim put in that makes him the accomplished picker he is today.

So spare a thought the next time you ask for a tip and a bit of a short cut to defeating a lock, and quickie or another likeminded ANORAK post an answer, consider the time the sweat and grey matter that this guy has put in to be able to give you the answer , and maybe put a bit of time in yourself to maybe finding the answer.

Its not me thats infected you guys, its the NDE bug that lay dormant in you long before i came along.
