your poll is too limited...
0
1-10
10-25
25-50
50+
this would be a better poll - some people have yet to pick open more than five locks because they have just begun.

Aye it would... at least mine had over two choices though
I wonder if it's worth creating a new poll and getting this one scrapped ?

I still say you have it wrong.
0, 1, 2-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-30, 31-40, 40-50, 50 and up
This has a better curve on realistic skill.

I don't really think that's true. There are many members here who I'm sure have picked well over 30 or 40 locks. A good number are probably in the 100's. I would say that, aside from beginners, your first 6 options are pretty well moot.

I voted 20-29 because I have over 20 locks in my hole collection that I picked.

Well, for the record, I haven't a foggy clue how many locks I've picked, but I know it's well over 100.

P.S. That is presuming that we mean different locks in general, and not different brands or models of locks.

I'd say you're definitely an unusual strata, db. If nothing else, most hobby pickers can't afford that many locks.

Really? Am I that unusual for someone who'd been doing this for a little over a year now? I don't own many of the locks I've picked, but I've always found ways to get my hands on locks to pick (legitimately, of course). It has helped that I work in the construction industry, so there have been many locks around the shop that I've had the opportunity (and authorization) to pick. Most of them have been Weisers, save a few cool padlocks. Add to that the locks I've gotten in bulk purchases on ebay, and some more recent acquisitions that I will post about this evening, and I've certainly well exceeded 100. But I'd have thought that would not be that uncommon.
Hmm. Interesting...

Maybe not uncommon for someone as "into it" as you (not just in picking, but in the continuing development and exploration of picking), but as in most things, such individuals make up a small slice of the overall population.
