Luggage lock

Postby weetabix » 12 Dec 2005 15:47

Newbie here. A friend of mine has a luggage lock and she's forgotten the combination. I tried searching about it but couldn't find any previous topics.
Basically, it looks sorta like this: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/maymyint/LewisClarkcombinationpadlock.jpg
but with 4 numbers instead of three.

Too be honest you should just be able to pull it hard and it will open if not try all the differant combos, it shouldnt take you long.

I'd try all possible combinations but I kinda need to find a quicker way. Would
shimmying it work?

should do, your not really going to get any proper decode methods as we get a lot of kds on here who have just stolen a bag and want a quick in so ask here, we all give the same generic responce as we cant say on 1 post if its above board or not, im not saying yours is a stolen bag or anything but just explaining why you wont get any more helpful replies, the info you require is on this site if you spend some time here playing with the search

It really shouldn't take you more than ten minutes to get through 999 combinations. Just flip through 'em.

I don't think shimming will work on those. However, trying all combinations will really not take you long. If you can fend off the hand cramps, you can go through all 1000 combinations in about an hour, give or take. Since you don't know whether the combo is a high number or low number, there's a 50/50 chance you'll get it in the first half, meaning you may be no more than 30 minutes away from success.

If you want to be really clever, start at 1940 and start working up, as often times people will use an important year (birth year, wedding year, graduation, etc) for the combo, so you may just hit it in your first few minutes of trying. If you get to 9999 and it's no love, you can start back at 0000 and work up to 1940.

Cheers!

That's why I always set my super secret combo to 1939 to foil people like DB.

Nah, I thought the same after having a look at the picture - I missed the last line of the op's original post too.

Kind of like 99 beers on the wall, have a beer every 99 times you have tried a new combination. But that lock should not be that hard to open.
