ACE II pick

I bought an ACE II lock to practice on, but when I went to use my pick it wouldn't fit in the lock (I have the old Southords). I e-mailed Southord about my problem and they assured me that the pick would fit in an ACE II lock.

So I figured I must have done something wrong and tried it again...still no dice. Finally I got out a pair of calipers and measured the pick and the lock, it is not possible for this pick to fit in the lock.

I e-mailed southord again and told them this and they told me I must have some special ACE II that is not made to normal dimensions, is there such a thing? Also, what brands of tubular picks do you know of that WILL work on ACE II's?

What size is the post (the part the pick should fit over) of the Ace II?
Bike locks are approximately 7.5/7.8 mm, tubular cam locks approx 8mm, so the southOrd pick wouldn't fit on the latter as it is only 7.8mm...OK it would but only if you forced it on, and you wouldn't be able to use it, plus, once forced on it might no want to come off, not without the risk of damaging something

Hit it right on the head Chubby, its a cam lock. Any suggestions on a pick?

I own the HPC 7SB
Its bore measures 7.6mm, as far as small bore locks are concerned you may as well have the original key! no "wiggle wiggle in - out 1000th of an inch nonsense, you just put it in and turn, every lock...every time.
The only thing I can think of is that the picks available for between $1000 - $2000 are probably where you will find one that works, without going into any details we all know where tubular cam locks are used!.
I did ask a locksmith supplier tech to check the measurements of the HPC/SouthOrd picks that they had, they were all basically under 8mm.

Oh! Btw, if any bright spark has any thoughts about hijacking this thread with :

You start off by taping the paperclips to the dispenser, and then throwing it at yourself, and just buy the pick!

Here is the cheapest I have found it for, take that price and go to lockpicks.com and they will give you that price minus 10%.

The Peterson Pro-1, with appropriate head, will pick most any tubular lock you will encounter in the US. Fortunately, its prohibitively expensive for wanna be thieves, and large enough that anyone at a vending machine will be noticed.
