Picking Cylinder- Torque Wrench Problem?

Postby tc36 » 8 Feb 2004 18:43

I noticed picking this defiant lock it took alot of torque. So i removed the cylinder and picked it. But i noticed that i pick from the front the first 2 pins are extremely easy like i can rake them and i m there. But the back 2 seem almost impossilble. Well then i went to the back of the cylinder and the back 2 pins were just as easy and the front 2 were impossible. #3 pin on both sides was possible. After about 30 minutes (give me a break i am new) i got it. Tried again took me a while but i got it.

My question is.
Is this a tolerance problem that is causeing the cylinder to "rock" for a loss of other terms??
Or is my torque wrench just not goin in far enough? (grinded alan wrench)

Its just the way of your lock. I suggest lightening up on your tension as well. Your tension tool does not have to be any specific length, just has to be able to apply a torque to the cylinder.

So then its mostly just the tolerances of the lock

I have lightened up the tension from when i started messin with it which you are right did help but that back pins r killin me LOL.

Thanks for the advice.
Think i need to buy more expensive locks to play with LOL

Keep lessening your tension until you can no longer pick the lock. Then start from that minimum, and increase ever so gently.
