I apply light tension pin pick the pins for about 2 mins and release tension and i can set about 2-3 pins but the plug never turns. :(

It could be because your ratio of questions to practice is off kilter. More practice = more proficiency.

i can pick 4 spools in a Yale cylinder Peace of Cake :D But you no the way When your picking a cylinder when you set all the pins you kinda turn the plug from the weight you have on tension. On a padlock it doesnt do that so how much pressure would i have to apply to Get the lock open if i thought all the pins were set. :? Gonna go practise on that lock

hmm... try making a repinnable padlock from your Blackspur - follow my guide then put in some spool, or mushroom pins - at least that way you know what you are dealing with...

in fact just lean to pick 2 sets of pins on a padlock... it's not obvious how much tension you need and making it repinnable will allow you to work up.

tell me... are the bottom pins in your Yale of similar size?

They are when you take them out and look, but they look the same size whne you look in keyhole. BTW i dont have a dremmel drill so i cant really drill the holes in side of padlock. IF you had a yale cylinder and a padlock and put the same ammount of pins and same top pins would it be harder on padlock. I cant even get the padlock to turn a tiny tiny bit :?

Bet you wish you hadnt told me to basically piss off now dont you?
Youve got so much to learn and so little patience to do it with.

Go back to the yale and leave the abus for another day, re-pin it to 3 pins like i told you and try that.

Youve now seen the diffeance between quality of locks, a bird cylinder is differant to an abus padlock.

But the yale is simple Ive did the 2 pins in cylinder and then when i was able to do that. I just tryed the 5 pin and it was simple. And i already have been able to set a few pins and turn the plug on ABUS.

I'll believe it when I see it ...

show me video evidence, or photograph the plug turned fully on your Abus...

WAIT!!!!
since you said the pins were very nearly the same size in your Bird cylinder- did you just turn your pick upside down and just lift them all at the same time with the flat side of your pick?

i didnt fully turn the plug it only went a wee tiny bit but i was never able to turn the plug before. And on the Bird i pin picked it. i tryed putting my pick upside down and jsut fully lifting the pins and apply tension and it doesnt work. so there they must not be the same size.

Jason your shagged yale should be thrown away, use the one in the wood and repin it to the 5 full pins, you will not pick it, to re pin t put the key in the plug and drop the remaining pins in it so they are flush with it.

Last post your ever getting out of me now full stop :!:

if the plug has turned a bit it is likely because 1 or more of the security pins has false set...

either way I feel like I'm wasting time trying to help...
