Key on inside

Postby al25027 » 22 Dec 2005 16:31

What is the best way (if any) to turn a key that has been turned a little on the inside, to be able to push it out slightly so it can be picked, on a Euro? (no letter box).

You could try a tool that nigel rose sells but it probably wont work on a keyed both sides euro

Dont think the thumb turn turner will work on a double cylinder and Im pretty sure u cant do it.

Hope someone can prove me wrong because I have come up against this a couple of times and had to use the rotary pick to my shame

Not more than 2 days ago i was working on this exact problem myself.
Well it depends on the lock i guess.
I have a lock in which, if the key is inserted on one side, and you pick the other side - you can actually turn both plugs if you use some kind of a wire or a pick to get both cylinders 'stuck together' (you have to constantly apply pressure to the wire/pick), and while turning the plug without the key, the other will turn simultaneously.

There was a thread about something similar a while back:
http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=5885

Cheers, and good luck.
Please share if you discover something that was not mentioned :)

if you have a letterbox kit, then treat the key as a thumb turn, turn it and open the door, or if no letterbox tool then 6mm earth cable.

yeah I just read it after posting maybe I should read first.

anyway just to add to the other post it also works with broken keys if you have access to both sides of the door then all you need to do is line up the cylinder on the side with the broken key (as the customer has ussually left it turned slightly) and push out the bit from the other side with the spare.

Again takes longer to do the paper work

If you have an electric pick a couple of blast can quite often move the key enough. In this situation the door has normally not been deadlock hence normally the LBT will open it, so if you try an airwedge next to the latch they normally pop open this way, done this a number of times

long time no see,
i did one of these the other monday just simply
slipped the latch with mica.

if the keys in the back of the cylinder it can't be deadlocked
if they've gone out of that door.

GU Ferco Europa Plus,on exit lift the handle and the doors deadlock. Key only needed oon entry. Quite a few have thumbturns on though as its a bit of a safety hazard if you need to get out quickly

Internal plug can be turned on quite a few makes of cylinder but not all. Don't bother trying a Corbin or Kaba for starters.
